NBSC Expands Horizons: Groundbreaking Marks Major Infrastructure Boost
Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) marked a significant milestone in its commitment to academic excellence with a groundbreaking ceremony for three major infrastructure projects: a six-storey classroom building for the Teacher Education Program (Phase 1), a six-storey classroom building for the College of Computer Studies (Phase 1), and a four-storey Information Technology Building (Phase 2).
The event, held after the Monday convocation on February 17, 2025, signified the commencement of construction by NGP Construction, Zi9 Construction and Supplies, and Jorvivs Construction, respectively. These projects, slated for completion by August 2025, represent a substantial investment in the college’s future.
Rev. Father Boquilon presided over a blessing ceremony, uniting the NBSC community in prayer for the successful and safe construction of the buildings. Representatives from the contracting firms attended the ceremony, underscoring the collaborative spirit of the undertaking.
Dr. Christie Jean Villanueva-Ganiera, EdD, CESE, NBSC College President, emphasized the transformative impact of these projects.
“These are not just infrastructure, we are not just building infra projects but we are building dreams. Dreams opportunities and of course, future for our students.” she stated, expressing her hopes for swift construction and favorable weather conditions.”
Central Student Government President, Mr. Dwight Ferdinand Navarro, echoed Dr. Ganiera’s sentiments, highlighting the projects’ significance for student development.
“This event is more than just the start of the construction, it is a testament of our institution’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence, innovation and progress. These buildings will serve a vital space where students can explore technology, enhance their skills, and prepare for the evolving digital landscape” he shared, expressing gratitude to the faculty and staff who facilitated the projects.
Dr. Helen E. Maasin, Vice President for Administration and Finance (VPAF), acknowledged the tireless efforts of the Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) and the College President’s dedication to securing funding.
“Please build with integrity, because we really do want to maintain [the budget], because we are suppose to be returning the budget. But the president came out with her efforts to really convince FinCom (Financial Committee) and the Board of Trustees (BOT) that we need these buildings.”
The construction of these facilities will significantly enhance NBSC’s capacity to provide quality education and foster innovation, ensuring its students are well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century. By August 2025, NBSC anticipates the completion of these pivotal construction phases, marking a new chapter in the college’s growth and development.
